"I went skiing with a few psychologists one time... It was a disaster! I've never seen so many Freudian slips."

I am an anticipated graduate of 2017, psychology major, child advocacy certificate candidate, and psychology joke enthusiast. I will be continuing my education as I strive to earn my PsyD in clinical psychology to ultimately become a practicing child/adolescent psychologist. I have experience as a bio/neurofeedback intern-technician in a private practice setting. My research interests include childhood anxiety, childhood attachment and intimate relationships, and effects of parenting styles. While research isn't my first love, Psi Chi members know that understanding research is crucial in applied psychology. I am a passionate mental health advocate, prevantive care advocate and children's rights and protection advocate.

Outside of the classroom, I'm a state-wide performing deception artist (which is just a fancy way of saying magician) who also loves to read, run, play soccer, watch and critique Disney and Pixar movies. I also coach soccer for children age three to eight and write short-stories for children. I love learning, and I love helping and educating children and I love psychology.

After my anticipated graduation in May of 2017, I plan to continue my education and earn a PhD in order to prepare me for career in neurocognitive development research. My current research experience is in investigating how children learn the semantics of support. I also have research experience aimed at investigating what the natural way of thinking about the self is, and why people are so paradoxically drawn to enjoying tragic or horrific forms of fiction, within the field of social cognition. In the near future, I intend for my research to transition towards exploring similar questions from both a behavioral and neurological perspective.

When I'm not in class or at the lab, you can most likely find me reading, rollerblading, ice-skating, sketching and painting, and seeing plays or musicals in the city. Unrelated to my pursuits in psychology, I enjoy spending my time learning Italian, coding projects in Java and HTML, and analyzing fictional plays and novels.

With only two years left in my undergraduate career, I'm eagerly anticipating graduate school in 2018 where I'll attain my PhD in Clinical Psychology. While mostly looking at graduate school back home in New York, I'm excited to see where I'll be when the time comes!
As a double major working towards degrees in psychology and English, I spend much time on campus. After returning from a summer as a hired face painter in Maine, this will include assisting in Dr. Fox's RECAP lab which focuses on anxiety and depression in youth.
My personal interests outside academics include art, baking, community service, reading, and health.

"Many people need desperately to receive this message: ‘I feel and think much as you do, care about many of the things you care about, although most people do not care about them. You are not alone.'"
